Taunton Deane vs Plympton
The sole game in Division Two of the Tolchards Devon Women’s Cricket League this week sees Taunton Deane welcome Plympton.
With valuable points on offer as the season enters its second half, both sides will be eager to strengthen their position in the table. Taunton Deane have impressed with the consistency of their batting, with Imogen Dunne and Pippa Stephens leading the way with the bat throughout the campaign. The hosts will be hoping the pair can once again provide a solid foundation as they look to make home advantage count.
Deane also possess threats with the ball, and Beatrice How will be looking to build on an impressive performance last weekend after claiming three wickets against Clyst St George. She will be hoping to add to that tally this weekend and make early inroads into the Plympton batting line-up.
Plympton, meanwhile, will once again look to their Thai overseas player, Nattapat Koncharaneki, to provide the spark. She arrives on the back of a magnificent century in the visitors’ last outing and will be hoping to carry that rich vein of form into another crucial fixture. Unfortunately for Plympton, her century came in a losing cause, so she will be determined not only to add to her run tally this weekend but also to ensure she finishes on the winning side this time around.
Both teams have shown that they possess quality, and it should be an entertaining battle between Taunton Deane and Plympton, with both sides bidding to enhance their standing in the Division Two table.
Note: Unfortunately, Exeter’s second team have had to withdraw from Division Two this season due to player availability issues. However, there is still a promotion place up for grabs, with the Division Two champions earning promotion to the Tolchards Devon Women’s Cricket League Division One for the 2027 season. With that incentive still very much in place, it’s all to play for over the remaining weeks of the campaign.
The question now is: who can catch Hatherleigh, who currently sit unbeaten at the top of the Division Two table?
